Sellvia vs Shopify: Which ecommerce solution is best for your business? Both options promise business owners an easy way to start selling online, but there are some major differences between them.

First, Shopify is definitely better-known than Sellvia, with millions of users worldwide.

However, Sellvia is quickly getting more attention. It was even ranked as one of the fastest-growing companies in the US by Inc. Magazine in 2022.

We took a deep dive into both platforms, to create this complete comparison review, covering absolutely everything you need to know to make the right choice.
Let’s jump in.

Quick Verdict

Shopify is our number one pick overall for companies in search of a flexible ecommerce solution.

With Shopify you can start selling a variety of products, from physical items, to dropshipping and POD goods, and even digital downloads. Plus, it offers an omnichannel experience, so you can sell through social media, marketplaces, your own store, and even offline.

Sellvia vs Shopify: Which Is Best Overall?

Want an answer quickly? Here’s the quick breakdown.

Shopify and Sellvia are both convenient tools for entrepreneurs and would-be ecommerce store owners. However, Shopify is the more versatile of the two solutions. It’s a comprehensive commerce platform that supports omnichannel and international sales.

With Shopify you can sell any kind of product (digital and physical), across a range of channels. You can even access a point of sale solution to sell products in-person.

It also comes with a host of extra tools for marketing, business management, and order fulfillment.

Sellvia is a more focused solution, concentrating on the growing dropshipping market. You can build an online store with the software, and import products from a range of pre-vetted US and global dropshipping suppliers in seconds.

If you want to get started in the dropshipping industry, Sellvia has virtually everything you need to ensure success.

You can even create brand assets (like a logo), manage products in a convenient back-end environment, and access a range of tools for things like promotion on social media.

The Main Differences Between Shopify and Sellvia

Let’s look at the biggest differences between Sellvia and Shopify:

  • Business models: Shopify appeals to companies selling all kinds of products, regardless of their chosen business model. Sellvia specifically caters to dropshipping companies, connecting brands with suppliers, and helping them develop their online presence.
  • Variety: With Sellvia, you’re limited to the products available from the company’s pre-vetted suppliers. With Shopify, you can sell your own products, alongside products from dropshipping companies, and POD brands. Plus, you can sell digital downloads.
  • Platform: With Shopify, you can build a store and sell products through different connected platforms, but you can’t “embed” Shopify into an existing website. Sellvia allows you to install its services into an existing website.

Which has Better Features – Sellvia or Shopify?

Both Sellvia and Shopify have a great range of features to offer business owners, which vary depending on the plan you choose.

However, both of these platforms focus on slightly different companies, with different business models. Let’s dive into the core feature sets.

Shopify’s Key Features

shopify online homepage - shopify vs sellvia

We’re always impressed by the dozens of incredible features Shopify has to offer. It’s difficult to cover all of them in-depth here, but here are some of the main capabilities:

Comprehensive website builder

Shopify includes a powerful website builder and page editor, featuring various templates, and customization options. You can purchase your own domain for your store, and even design brand assets like logos for free.

Commerce

Shopify is an all-in-one commerce platform, supporting all kinds of business models. You can build a dropshipping store with a Shopify app, sell products you produce yourself, or sell digital downloads. You can even set up subscriptions.

Omnichannel sales

As well as selling products through your Shopify store, you can also connect Shopify to social media channels and marketplaces like Amazon or Ebay. Plus, the Shopify POS system means you can sell in-person too.

Payment processing

While Sellvia relies on third-party payment gateways, Shopify has its own payment processing solution, in the form of Shopify Payments. You can also choose to connect third-party gateways if you prefer.

Marketing tools

Shopify comes with built-in features for SEO, such as meta descriptions and blog pages. It also supports integrations with social media, email marketing platforms, and more, to help elevate brand awareness.

Business management

Shopify users can access various tools for business management, such as inventory and order management tools, order fulfillment services, and automation solutions through Shopify Flow.

Analytics

The broad range of reporting and analytical tools on Shopify make it easy to track your top-selling products, manage VAT and tax reports, and even get insights into customer preferences, so you can create unique segments for marketing.

Sellvia’s key features

Sellvia’s feature set depends heavily on which plan you choose from the provider. One plan focuses on adding dropshipping capabilities to an existing store or website, while the other allows you to build your own store with Sellvia’s features.

Core capabilities include:

Store builder features

Sellvia does offer website design features, in the form of a free turnkey ecommerce store (available on the higher-priced plan). You get your own domain name, hosting, and templates included, as well as customization options for product pages.

Dropshipping network

Sellvia gives companies access to thousands of best-selling products, intended specifically for US customers. You can import products and their descriptions to your site with a single click, and offer 1-3 day shipping speeds.

Order fulfillment

Sellvia handles all of the order fulfillment process for you, from packaging and processing orders, to shipping them from a California-based warehouse. On certain plans, you can also ship products worldwide.

Marketing tools

Some Sellvia packages come with marketing solutions built-in, such as on-site SEO and mailing services. You can also access promotional package “bundles” for social media, SEO, email marketing, and beyond.

Branding

Sellvia can help with every aspect of setting up your brand, from conducting niche research on your behalf, to helping you design your product pages and website.

You can also get access to a personal manager for consultation sessions.

Payment processing

Though Sellvia doesn’t manage payment processing itself, it does offer access to integrations with various payment gateways. Depending on your plan, you can also get help setting up your payment gateways.

🏆 The winner: Shopify

Although Sellvia is a fantastic tool for dropshipping companies – particularly in the US, Shopify has the best range of features overall. Shopify combines everything business owners need into one package, from marketing tools, to inventory management software.

Plus, you’ll have access to a massive app marketplace with Shopify, ensuring you can easily connect with dropshipping suppliers, or upgrade your marketing campaigns.

Shopify and Sellvia Pricing Plans

Sellvia and Shopify take a very different approach to pricing. We actually found Sellvia’s pricing to be pretty confusing compared to the straightforward plans you get on Shopify. Let’s take a closer look.

Shopify Pricing

shopify pricing 2023

Shopify has three “core” pricing plans, as well as its “Starter” plan, and it’s Enterprise-focused plan, Shopify Plus.

The “Starter” plan doesn’t give you full access to the Shopify website builder and all of the platform features.

Instead, it allows you to add a Shopify button to a website, or sell products with links on social media and messaging apps. This plan costs $5 per month, but it also comes with transaction fees of around 5%. The three main plans include:

  • Basic: $39 per month: All of the website building tools, SSL certificates, 1,000 inventory locations, marketing tools, payment processing, 2 staff accounts, and more.
  • Shopify: $105 per month: All the features in Basic, plus global multi-channel selling, professional reports, shipping discounts, and 5 staff accounts.
  • Advanced: $399 per month: All the features in Shopify, plus import tax management, advanced custom reports, and 15 staff accounts.

The enterprise plan “Shopify Plus” comes with custom pricing, but costs start at around $2,000 per month. This is quite a hefty price tag, but you do get more customization options, extra advanced integrations, and a range of other unique features.

Keep in mind, there are also transaction fees to consider on all of Shopify’s plans.

Sellvia Pricing

Sellvia’s pricing is a little tricky. On the surface, it seems to have two core plans, plus, you can create an account and start browsing through dropshipping products for free.

sellvia pricing

However, there are also a bunch of other “plan options” and extras you can purchase.

The two core plans are:

  • Sellvia: $39 per month: 1-3 day order processing, unlimited product imports and orders, high-converting product pages, technical support, and shipping from California warehouses.
  • Sellvia Pro: $399 per year: All the features of Sellvia, plus, a free turnkey ecommerce store, professional design support, a personal manager, free hosting and a domain name, personal consultations, on-site SEO, mailing service integrations, payment gateway setup, and niche research support.

Outside of these plans, you can also purchase “packages” for high-ticket dropshipping products. These packages start at $290 for 200 high-margin products and 50 Amazon top products.

There’s also a “Gold” plan for $490, with 500 high-margin products, and 75 Amazon products. Or you can choose the Platinum plan for $890 with 1,000 high-margin products, and 100 Amazon products.

You can also purchase “premium promotion packages”. These start at $490 and range up to $5,990, with access to various unique promotional articles, keyword research, and SEO optimization.

Sellvia also offers a range of other “packages” for Ecommerce SEO, SEO, Promotional tools, email marketing, social media, brand awareness, and Amazon promotion.

🏆 Winner

Shopify has better pricing!

Although Sellvia might be a little cheaper in some areas, we’re choosing Shopify as the winner, because Sellvia’s pricing structure is so difficult to understand.

Plus, the “Starter” plan is an excellent beginner option if you just want to sell through social media or messaging channels.

Ease of Use – Which Software is More User Friendly?

The good news for small business owners and new entrepreneurs, is both Shopify and Sellvia are extremely easy to use. They offer top-notch dashboards and intuitive tools that take very little time to master. You should be able to use either tool with very little hassle.

Shopify Ease of Use

Shopify is one of our favorite ecommerce platforms, thanks in part to how easy it is to use. You don’t need any coding knowledge or much business experience to get started.

You can sign up for an account in minutes, and access a host of templates and tools to start building your store.

Shopify’s backend is easy to navigate, with clearly labelled sections, and tooltips to guide you. Plus, there are tons of tools included in the Shopify ecosystem that make running your business easier, like Shopify Flow for automation.

Building attractive pages with the convenient editor is straightforward, and you can even manage aspects of your store on the move with the Shopify app for iOS and Android.

Sellvia Ease of Use

Whether you’re adding Sellvia’s dropshipping services to your existing site, or starting from scratch, you’ll have a fantastic, user-friendly experience. Sellvia makes it extremely easy to set up a store, with access to mobile-friendly templates and design support from experts.

Plus, if you’re adding products from Sellvia to your existing website, you can import everything from product descriptions to images from the company’s product catalog in seconds. Sellvia even creates conversion-optimized descriptions for you, to boost your chances of sales.

Plus, there are tons of extra “bundles” to make your life easier, if you need help with SEO, marketing campaigns, or social media.

🏆 The Winner: It's a tie

Both Sellvia and Shopify are extremely straightforward. However, it’s worth noting that Shopify does have more tools and features to explore. This means it might take a little longer to master all of the different components of the platform.

Shopify vs Sellvia: Designs and Themes

The design of your ecommerce store makes a huge difference to not only your brand, but your customer’s experience. Since Shopify is a more comprehensive website builder, we felt it had a much better range of features, themes, and customization options.

Shopify Design and Themes

Shopify is a comprehensive ecommerce platform with a fantastic range of free and premium themes to choose from. There are hundreds of themes on the Shopify marketplace, plus you can work with developers to create your themes from scratch.

shopify theme selection

We think Shopify’s selection of themes are fantastic. They’re all responsive and come with lightning fast loading times. Plus, they can easily be customized with Shopify’s brilliant Theme Editor. You can even dive into Shopify code if you have the know-how to make more granular changes.

Plus, once you purchase a theme from Shopify, you get access to updates for the life of that theme. As a bonus, you can also change your theme pretty easily without too much hassle.

Sellvia Design and Themes

If you purchase the more expensive Sellvia plan, you can access tools which allow you to create a turnkey ecommerce store.

However, there are fewer “theme” options to choose from than you’ll get with Shopify. You do get your own domain name, and a handful of templates, as well as customization options for your product pages.

One possible benefit is you can also access the expertise of designers to help you build your store, and even choose impressive, trending products for your dropshipping business.

Additionally it’s worth noting you can add Sellvia’s dropshipping capabilities to existing website builders like WooCommerce and Shopify, if you want to use those tools instead.

🏆 The Winner: Shopify

Shopify definitely stands out from a design perspective. We love how many options there are for different themes, and many premium themes even come with various styles to choose from. Plus, customizing your store is incredibly easy with the Theme Editor.

Shopify vs Sellvia: Inventory Management

We know inventory management can be one of the biggest challenges ecommerce businesses face. That’s why it’s so important to have the right tools available in your platform to track all your products, variations, orders, and other factors.

Shopify Inventory Management

Shopify is definitely a lot more robust than Sellvia from an inventory management perspective. From your backend environment, you can create product pages and variations, organize shipping strategies, and even leverage fulfillment networks.

shopify inventory

Shopify supports comprehensive inventory tracking, and we particularly like the fact that Shopify POS allows you to sync your in-store and online inventory counts. Plus, you can even access comprehensive inventory reports that offer valuable insights into sales trends.

If you’re already using inventory or warehouse management tools outside of Shopify, you can also integrate those with your ecosystem, to bring your whole business workflow into one place.

Sellvia Inventory Management

Sellvia takes a slightly different approach to inventory management. Like Shopify, you can access real-time stock tracking tools and automatic updates to help you monitor the base price of products, availability, and other factors.

sellvia product catalog

However, Sellvia doesn’t rely as heavily on end-to-end inventory management tools, because it manages all of the order fulfillment process for you. On the plus side, you do get some useful reports and analytics to help you find sales trends, and unlock new opportunities.

Plus, Sellvia can work with you every step of the way to answer any questions you might have about your orders and new dropshipping products.

🏆 The Winner: Shopify

Shopify is a little more advanced if you’re looking for comprehensive inventory management, in part because it offers a wider range of business-focused reports and analytical tools. It also integrates with Shopify POS, so you can sync your inventory across offline and online channels.

Shopify vs Sellvia: SEO and Marketing

We mentioned above that both Shopify and Sellvia offer access to marketing tools, like social media solutions and SEO. However, they offer these in very different ways. If you want to take full advantage of Sellvia’s marketing tools, you need to pay extra for “bundles”.

Shopify SEO and Marketing

From a marketing perspective, Shopify integrates with a huge range of tools you can use in your advertising campaigns, including email marketing platforms and content creation tools. It also works seamlessly with social media channels like Facebook.

We also think Shopify excels from an SEO perspective. You can access plugins to help you SEO optimize your copy on various pages. Plus, you can customize your meta tags, URL structures, and other factors to ensure you have the best impact on the search engine result pages.

Shopify also comes with a few technical features which can improve your SEO standing, such as ultra-fast loading pages, and support for AMP pages, mobile responsive themes, and image optimization tools. Plus, you get structured data markup support built in.

Sellvia SEO and Marketing

If you opt for Sellvia’s cheapest plan, the only real “marketing” tool you get is access to “high-converting product pages”. Sellvia will automatically create SEO-friendly product listings for you, so you’re more likely to appear in the search results.

If you use Sellvia’s website building capabilities, you can also access mobile-optimized themes, customizable meta tags and descriptions, and structured data markup. However, if you want more advanced marketing tools, you might need to consider investing in premium promotion packages.

These are paid packages for things like email marketing, social media, brand awareness, Amazon marketing, SEO, and ecommerce SEO articles.

🏆 The Winner: Shopify

Technically, Sellvia offers more support with SEO and marketing than Shopify, but Shopify has more SEO features built into its website builder on cheaper plans. If you’re willing to spend more, Sellvia could give your marketing results a boost.

Shopify vs Sellvia: Apps and Integrations

When it comes to apps and integrations, both Sellvia and Shopify are reasonably flexible, but Shopify is by far the most versatile solution.

Shopify has a huge app marketplace, brimming with thousands of apps and add-ons you can use to enhance your store’s performance. Plus, they add new integration options all the time.

shopify available apps

Shopify also integrates seamlessly with social media channels, marketplaces like Amazon and Etsy, and has built in POS systems, so you can sell in-store too.

Plus, the headless architecture offered by Shopify means you can add your Shopify back-end or Shopify Hydrogen to a range of other tools.

Sellvia is a little bit more restrictive. It integrates with a variety of ecommerce platforms and website builders, so you can access all the dropshipping capabilities you need with your existing store.

It can also integrate with various payment gateways. However, options for adding other integrations for marketing, sales, and more, are limited.

🏆 The Winner: Shopify

Shopify wins again, with headless commerce options, POS integrations, social media and marketplace connections, and a massive marketplace of apps and add-ons.

Sellvia vs Shopify Customer Support

Though we found Shopify and Sellvia to be extremely intuitive platforms, there’s still a chance your online business will need a little extra support at times. Here’s how Shopify and Sellvia measure up in terms of customer service.

Shopify Customer Support

Shopify gives beginners plenty of guidance and assistance when they’re setting up their ecommerce business.

There’s a massive help center on the Shopify website, brimming with guides, blogs, and FAQs to help answer any questions you might have.

shopify help center

Plus, you can hire Shopify Experts to give you one-on-one assistance whenever you need it.

From the backend of your Shopify store, you can also reach out directly to the customer service team through email and live chat. Phone support is available for some companies, depending on where you are in the world.

Sellvia Customer Support

Sellvia also offers phone-based service, as well as email support, though we couldn’t find a live chat option. It also offers a lot of great resources to beginners, such as a comprehensive help center, a range of guides, and blog.

Plus, there’s a handy “marketing academy” for help with advertising.

Notably, the support you get does depend a little on the plan you choose. Sellvia Pro packages include free personal consultations, technical support, and access to a success manager.

🏆 Winner

Shopify offers higher quality customer support

We have to give Shopify the trophy here, simply because it offers a wider range of ways for customers to get in touch if they have issues. Plus, the resources offered by Shopify are some of the best in the ecommerce landscape.

Is Shopify or Sellvia Better for Starting a Dropshipping Business?

Clearly, Shopify is the better platform overall for general commerce, but you might be wondering how it stacks up against Sellvia for the average dropshipping business. At a glance, Sellvia should be the ideal option for dropshippers.

It makes it easy to access high-quality products from companies in the US. Plus, the order fulfillment options offered are fantastic. You can access fast shipping for dropshipping items on any plan. Plus, the product selection is fantastic.

However, we’d still choose Shopify dropshipping as the better option.

But why?

Although Sellvia excels at winning product choices and US shipping, Shopify gives you more options. Instead of being limited to a specific selection of us-based products, you can source items from all over the world.

That’s because Shopify can integrate with a host of different dropshipping tools. The Shopify app store gives any dropshipping business access to tons of different suppliers, including AliExpress.

Plus, you can also sell print-on-demand products too.

The delivery time might be a bit longer depending on the suppliers you choose with Shopify, but you can access a bigger product selection.

When to use Sellvia

We recommend using Sellvia if you’re looking for:

  • Simple US dropshipping: Sellvia makes it easy to find local US dropshipping partners and import their products directly into your store.
  • Extensive support: Sellvia offers a range of packages that can help you with everything from choosing the right products, to creating marketing campaigns.
  • Fulfillment support: Sellvia has a fantastic logistics center located in Canada, which ensures you can deliver products to your customers quickly.
  • Automation tools: You can access everything from automated product description creators to workflow tools to save your business time and money.

When to use Shopify

We recommend using Shopify if you’re looking for:

  • Omnichannel commerce: With Shopify you can sell across multiple channels, from social media, to marketplaces, your online store, and offline with Shopify POS.
  • Versatility: Shopify supports any business model. It can integrate with POD and dropshipping companies, support in-person retailers, and even offers options for selling digital products and subscriptions.
  • Brand customization: Shopify offers more extensive options to make your brand stand out. You can choose from a wider range of themes, and even create a free logo.
  • Scalability: Shopify is better equipped to handle the needs of growing stores, with inventory management, business management, fulfillment tools, analytics, and extensive international sales options.

Integrations: Shopify’s app marketplace makes it easy to extend the functionality of your store with hundreds of different apps and tools.

The Verdict: Sellvia or Shopify?

Overall, Shopify is the best solution for business owners, whether you’re selling dropshipping products or not.

It comes with all the tools you need to increase your profit margins, from solutions for your marketing strategies, to a comprehensive website builder.

Plus, it has its own payment processor for credit card, debit card, and digital payments.

If you’re looking specifically for a dropshipping platform with excellent shipping times, however, Sellvia could be a good choice. Sellvia products can be shipped across the US in less than 3 business days, and the platform offers a lot of great support to beginners.
