This review looks at a piece of software that enables you to do precisely that: Videeo.

In this Videeo review, we’ll explore what it does, its key features, prices, and pros and cons. Hopefully, by the end of this blog post, you’ll have a better idea of whether or not it’s a suitable option for your Shopify store.

If you don't have time to read my entire Videeo review, here's a quick summation of my findings:

Videeo is an incredibly new Shopify app that seems like a handy live-streaming service. It lets you host shoppable live streams on your Shopify store, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts.

It provides an excellent way to create a more engaging and immersive shopping experience.

However, it’s pretty expensive and only available to those in the US, so you'll need to look elsewhere if you’re residing outside the US and on a tight budget.

That's enough preamble; let's dive into the nitty-gritty of this Videeo review:

Videeo Pros and Cons

Pros 👍

  • It’s quick and easy to install into your Shopify store (it only takes five minutes).
  • You can live stream 24/7
  • Customer support is reportedly excellent.
  • You can manage guests participating in your live stream (you can mute them or place them in Videeo’s digital waiting room).

What is Videeo?

Launched in July 2023, Videeo is built on CommentSold's technology. This new kid on the block is free to download from the Shopify App Store and can be installed in as little as five minutes.

At the time of writing, CommentSold is unavailable outside the US. But watch this space because CommentSold plans to expand further afield.

Videeo eagles you to host live streams on your Shopify store, Facebook, and Instagram. Videeo wants you to be able to create engaging shopping experiences for your customers via live selling. To make this doable, your Shopify inventory is synced instantly; you don’t need any extra integrations or add-ons.

Apps like Videeo also unlock the potential to combine commerce with live entertainment and allow real-time interactions between you and your shoppers. This goes a long way to creating more of an immersive shopping experience.

At the time of writing, Videeo’s website states that eCommerce businesses using Videoo had increased their conversion rate by an average of 35% and entertained 22m+ customers who have collectively spent $4+ billion. It also tells us that customers watching live shopping events convert 10x more than straightforward eCommerce.

Videeo Features

Please note the Videeo features available to you will depend on your chosen pricing plan (more on that below)

First, let’s take a look at some of Videeo’s most noteworthy features:

  • You can live stream 24/7 on your Shopify website and sell directly from this stream via your Shopify Cart.
  • You can use Videeo’s user-friendly mini-player to tell site visitors about your show. It also allows for uninterrupted viewing while users browse your site.
  • All live streams are automatically recorded so shoppers can replay them if they’ve missed the live version. This allows shoppers to continue buying via a stream, even if you aren’t live.

Now, let’s turn our attention to the other features Videeo has to offer:

Sell Direct on Social Media

Sell products straight from your Facebook and Instagram pages via live streams and replays. Orders are processed through your Shopify Cart.

Videeo also plans to sync with YouTube and TikTok “soon.” But there isn’t a release date for this upcoming functionality at the time of writing.

Add Guest Takeovers

You can add guest hosts (e.g., influencers, celebrities, your Mom – whoever you want!) to sell products on your live stream from your online catalog.

Your invited guests can take over your live stream from anywhere. Guests just have to use their smartphone; they don’t need any added software.

But rest assured, you retain control and authority over the live stream. You can add guest hosts to the stream whenever you like, mute them anytime, or place them in Videeo’s “digital lobby.”

So, never fear; you can reclaim the spotlight anytime you need.

Customer Engagement

You can engage with customers as you live stream. Videeo consolidates chat feeds across your social media channels and your Shopify website into one stream. Needless to say, everyone’s comments in one place make moderation much easier to manage.

You can also invite shoppers to join you on camera and engage with you as you sell products.

Videeo is also launching a new feature that will enable you to offer discounts, previews of new products, etc., specifically to VIP customers.

But unfortunately, there wasn’t a release date at the time of writing. Offering perks to loyal customers is great for cementing their loyalty and nurturing the relationship you have with them, so this upcoming feature is certainly worth keeping an eye out for!

Structure Live Feed

You can use Shopify’s collection feature to plan which products you want to showcase and to structure your live feeds. You can also set up show scripts to help ensure your live broadcast runs as smoothly as possible.

However, you’re not restricted to livestreaming a particular Shopify collection. You can add other products to your live feed as and when you want. You scan the product bar code, and it will appear live to your viewers.

The Videeo website also states they have a new feature coming, which will allow you to schedule live shows on specific dates and times.

Videeo Customer Support

All plans received email support. Small and Large Business plans include phone and chat support Mon-Fri 7:00am -12:00am Sat 9:00am-9:00pm CST.

In addition, Small Business Plan subscribers receive what Videeo calls “Business Growth Consultations,” while those on the Large Business Plan have a dedicated Business Growth Manager. Both options offer advice on how using Videeo can help grow your business.

In addition, if you prefer the self-service route, CommentSold’s broader website offers online resources, including eBooks and guides, events and webinars, case studies, a Help Center, and the CommentSold Academy, which offers free online courses.

Videeo Pricing

Videeo for Shopify currently offers a free 15-day trial.

However, you must provide your card details, so if you forget to cancel within those 15 days, you’ll be charged accordingly. It’s also worth mentioning that Videeo’s transaction fees still apply during the trial period.

Prices start from $149 per month, and the app is free to install, and the only prices I could find were on the CommentSold website.

Videeo for Shopify Reviews

Reviewers on the Shopify App Store give Videeo an impressive 4.9 stars out of 5. However, given the app has only been around since July 2023, there aren’t hundreds of reviews to peruse.

That said, users praise how simple Videeo is to set up, its excellent customer service, and that their customers can checkout easily during a live stream.

Videeo Review: My Final Thoughts

So, there you have it, that’s my Videeo review! Hopefully, it’s given you enough information to decide if you want to use Videeo to livestream to potential customers.

Before you go, here are my final thoughts:

The app is still less than six months old, and although (at the time of writing) its eight Shopify reviewers give it a glowing scorecard, it’s too soon to tell if Videeo will be a popular choice among Shopify ecommerce users.

That said, Videeo seems like a convenient live-streaming service that facilitates shoppable live streams on your Shopify store, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts.

However, it’s pretty pricey and only available to US users, so if you live outside of the US and are on a shoestring budget, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

That’s all from me! Have you tried Videeo? Let me know what you think in the comments box below.
