Hi there! If you're looking for a Printify UK review, you're in the right place. As you might already know, I'm a freelance writer based in the UK, and I've written tons of software reviews for Ecommerce-Platforms.

Today, I've been tasked with determining whether Printify is a good option for UK users. So, stick with me as I explore what Printify does, its pricing, customer support offering, and much more.

However, if you don't have time to read my entire Printify UK review, here's the crux of my findings:

Quick verdict:

  • Yes, Printify is a decent option for UK users! Most of Printify's services are available – all POD products are accessible, and plenty of their printing partners deliver products to the UK.
  • Choosing a UK-based print provider can reduce shipping costs and delivery times. Just filter your search for print providers available in the UK (more on this below).
  • Unfortunately, Printify's Pop-up store feature (this enables you to launch an online store near-on instantly to sell POD products) is only available to US users (however, the Printify team is currently working to make this available to users worldwide, so watch this space!).
  • You can change your Printify account currency to GBP, but this comes with a few limitations (more on this below).
  • Printify automatically charges VAT on UK orders.

With the basics covered, let's dive into the nitty-gritty of this Printify UK review:

What is Printify Print on Demand?

In a nutshell: Printify is a holistic print-on-demand dropshipping service that doesn't require any upfront investment!

It provides everything UK entrepreneurs need to add custom designs to items in the following product categories: men's, women's, and kid's clothing, accessories, and home and living.

Printfiy UK Review

You can use Printify's mockup generator to see what your product's end design looks like in various colors and sizes before listing them on your eCommerce store to sell.

Like other POD services, Printify doesnโ€™t print in bulk. They only print your design onto your desired product after you've made a sale. At this point, Printify will print, package, and send the order directly to your customer.

Here's How Printify Works

In short: Printify is pretty easy to use. There are four steps to utilizing its POD service:

  1. Choose the product you want to sell from the Printify catalog
  2. Pick a print provider
  3. Create a design and place it on your chosen product.
  4. Publish your custom product on your eCommerce site.

Let's explore each of these steps in turn:

First, pick a blank product from Printify's range of products – there are 800+ to choose from, including mugs, phone cases, hoodies, stickers, tote bags, home decor, wall art, t-shirts, and many more!

Pro Tip: Printify has a handy filter that lets you define your target market – so you can specify that you're selling to the United Kingdom. In light of that, I suggest using this filter to narrow your product search.

Next, click on the product you're interested in and scroll down to see which print providers are available. You can filter your options according to:

  • Printify's ranking
  • Production time
  • Lowest price
  • Highest price
  • Lowest shipping
  • Highest shipping

Once you've picked a print provider, hit the ‘Start designing' button.

This takes you to Printify's editor, where you can upload a design from your device, Dropbox, or Google Drive. You can also add pictures from Shutterstock, insert custom text, or hire a pro designer from Fiverr to help you out!

Now, drop your design onto the product and adjust its size and rotation to your liking. Once you're happy, click ‘Save product.'

This takes you to a page where you can select your preferred mockup views. In this instance, ‘front,' ‘back,' and different models. You can also add a product title and description (helpfully, Printify automatically populates these fields with key info), select which product variants you wish to sell, and set your pricing.

You have control over your product's retail price. As you may already know, you'll have to pay Printify for the base product price and shipping costs (once you make a sale). So, the markup you add to these costs is the profit margin you'll make. Also, as previously mentioned, Printify handles VAT for you, so you don't need to worry about factoring that into your pricing structure.

Lastly, if you haven't already, you'll need to connect your online store with your Printify account. Printify supports the following integrations:

  • Shopify
  • WooCommerce
  • Etsy
  • Wix
  • PrestaShop
  • BigCommerce
  • Squarespace
  • Printify API

Unfortunately, the following integrations are only available to US users:

  • eBay
  • Walmart
  • TikTok Shop

Printify's native integrations are pretty simple; just click the button that applies to you and follow the instructions.

Once you've connected your store, you can publish the product (and all its related info) to your site.

Then, when you make a sale, Printify will handle order fulfillment, manufacturing requests, billing, and shipping on your behalf!

Design an Expansive Product Range From High-Quality Print Providers

In summary: Printify has over 850 POD products to choose from, many of which are created by high-quality brands, including American Apparel, Arctic Zone, Bella+Canvas, Delta, Fruit Of The Loom, Evergreen, Post-it, and many more. Each product page lists thorough product details and provides plenty of information about available print providers. You can also order product samples before making any final decisions.

Let's look at the Unisex Jersey Short Sleeve Tee to get a better feel of the product details available. On this product page, I was able to find out the following info:

  • The product manufacturer
  • Materials used
  • Size info
  • Key features (side seams, collar type, fiber composition, shoulder tape)
  • Care instructions

Similarly, plenty of info was available about potential print providers, including:

  • Price
  • Shipping price
  • Average production time
  • Print areas offered
  • Sizes available
  • Colors available

As mentioned above, you can order product samples to ensure you're 100% happy with the print quality and shipping times before offering the product to customers. Please note that samples aren't discounted unless you're a Premium plan subscriber (more on this below).

Pricing

In a nutshell: Printify is an affordable and transparent POD service. There aren't any hidden costs, and Printify doesn't take a commission on your sales. Best of all, you can access most of Printify's offering for free! As mentioned above, you only pay for the base product and shipping once a customer purchases.

Three pricing plans are available, including the freemium option (no credit card required). The latter is excellent for beginners working with a tight budget – you can create unlimited product designs and connect five stores per account. You can also access Printify's mockup generator and benefit from 24/7 live chat or contact form support.

After that, there are two paid plans available:

Premium: On Printifyโ€™s website, pricing is listed in USD. However, if you change the billing currency in your Printify account, pricing will convert to GBP. This package costs ยฃ25 a month, or ยฃ265 a year. You get everything in the free version, plus you can connect up to ten stores and enjoy up to a 20% discount on all products.

Enterprise: This bespoke package is for print-on-demand businesses generating high order volumes and needs custom integration and features. You'll need to contact Printify for a quote. The Enterprise plan supports everything above and unlimited stores per account, and you get a dedicated account manager and custom support.

Customer Support

In short: Printify makes contacting their customer support team very easy. At the top of the home screen click the ‘Need help?' tab, followed by ‘Contacts.' I've contacted their support team via live chat several times and, in each instance, received prompt and helpful responses.

Direct support is split into three options:

  1. Support
  2. Join partner network
  3. Press and media inquiries

As ‘support' is the most relevant option for this review, I'll focus on that.

When you click โ€˜Contact support,โ€™ youโ€™ll be taken to a page that says, โ€˜What can we help you with today?โ€™ followed by an array of categories to choose from.

  • About Printify & POD
  • Account & Stores
  • Sales Channels
  • Products & Design

โ€ฆwhen you click on one of these options, other subcategories will emerge. Once you select one of these, a โ€˜helpful insightโ€™ appears- I.e., a video or a link to a self-help article. Then, beneath these resources, thereโ€™s a contact form you can use to ask further questions.

Alternatively, in the bottom-right corner, thereโ€™s a chat widget. Click this to interact with Printify's chatbot โ€˜Snappy,โ€™ where you'll be forwarded to a human agent if necessary.

There's also a self-service Help Center. You'll find a search bar where you can type in your query to populate a list of resources that hopefully answer your question.

Printfiy UK Review

If you scroll further down the Help Center's homepage, you'll see a list of ‘Featured Articles'; at the time of writing, here were the titles featured:

You can also click on various categories of self-help resources, these include:

  • Get Started & Connect a Store
  • Design & Create
  • Manage Products & Orders
  • Fulfillment & Shipping
  • Payments, Billing & Taxes
  • About Printify & Print on Demand

Scroll further, and you'll see Printify has several guides. When I clicked ‘see our guides,' here were just a few of the available titles:

  • Marketing Calendar for 2023/2024 โ€“ Your Ultimate Guide
  • How to Sell On Etsy?
  • Must-Read Design Guide
  • Your Ultimate Guide to Getting Started
  • Your Ultimate Guide to Managing Products & Orders
  • How to Find Print-on-Demand Companies for Your Business?

…and many more, including the guide they recommend using as a starting point: The Essential Guide: How to sell print-on-demand products with Printify.

Lastly, you can also register to join a live Q&A session with Martin, Printify's in-house Expert (held weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can expect topics like account setup, order management, product selection, sales tips, and more to be covered.

Other Considerations for UK Users

As mentioned in the intro, a few limitations apply if you change your billing currency from USD:

  • You can't pay for orders using your Printify USD balance or rewards wallet
  • Printify coupons are disabled.
  • Automatic order approval charges several smaller amounts (per order) instead of one large daily figure.

…and more

Printify Alternatives

Although I think Printify is an excellent POD service, plenty of alternatives are worth considering. So, in the spirit of transparency, hereโ€™s how Printify stacks up against some of its competitors:

Printify vs Printful

Printfiy UK Review

Like Printify, Printful is another well-known POD tool – in fact, if youโ€™ve already done some research into the different POD companies, thereโ€™s a good chance youโ€™ve come across Printful.

Similarly, Printful offers a generous freemium account. However, it only lists 230+ POD products in its catalog, which, compared to Printifyโ€™s 800+, is much less.

Also, from my own experience, it takes much longer to hear back from Printfulโ€™s customer support team. I heard back from Printify within minutes, whereas it was hours before I got a response from Printful.

It's also worth noting that you might make more of a profit from Printify as some of their base product costs are lower. For example, Printify's cheapest T-shirt is $5.67, whereas Printful costs $8.95.

Where shipping to the UK is concerned (this doesn't include fulfillment times), for shirts, you can expect an average shipping time of 6-25 business days at ยฃ3.59 and an extra ยฃ1.20 for an additional product.

It's also worth noting that Printful offers a warehousing service for your own products, whereas Printify doesn't.

Printify vs Sellfy

Printfiy UK Review

Printify primarily bills itself as a print-on-demand platform. In contrast, POD is just one of the many features Sellfy offers. Unlike Printify, Sellfy is a full-fledged eCommerce platform that empowers you to sell physical and digital products- so it's a good choice if you don't already have an eCommerce store up and running.

Compared to Printify's 800+ product selection, Sellfy's 100+ seems meager.

Where Sellfyโ€™s POD shipping times to the UK are concerned, you can expect the following time frames:

  • Non-Apparel Production Time: 2-5 business days
  • Apparel Production Time: 2-7 business days
  • Standard Shipping: 5-20 business days
  • Delivery Time: 7-27 business days

Unfortunately, Sellfyโ€™s free plan has been discontinued.

Printify vs. Gelato

Printfiy UK Review

Gelato and Printify work much the same way. I.e., you sign up, integrate your store, and then design and import products from Gelato's catalog to your eCommerce site. Then, when a customer purchases, Gelato prints and ships the order on your behalf.

Gelato partners with 130+ production facilities across 32 countries, 17 based in the UK.

Although Gelato doesn't offer a specific number of products in its catalog, I would guess it's in the hundreds from a cursory glance. That said, it's worth highlighting that not all items are produced in all locations. You'll need to review the necessary product page to double-check that Gelato makes the product you wish to customize in one of its UK production hubs.

Where UK shipping is concerned, let's look at an example. For a Classic Crewneck T-shirt, you can expect the following shipping times and costs:

  • Standard shipping: 4-7 days (ยฃ3.35)
  • Express Shipping: 3-7 days (ยฃ4.04)

Printify UK Review: Is it Right for You?

So that's all for my Printify UK review!

All in all, if youโ€™re looking for a reliable POD company to use in the UK, Printify is certainly worth a second glance.

You can use nearly all Printify features for free, and ordering product samples is relatively simple, so you have very little to lose by trying Printify.

I also like that Printify is incredibly straightforward. Its interface is intuitive, its eCommerce integrations are seamless, and its mockup generator is self-explanatory.

Another perk is that you can pick the print provider you work with, giving you greater freedom to collaborate with someone that more closely aligns with your needs, I.e., price, turnaround times, etc.

However, on the flip side, Iโ€™ve noticed some have concerns about this. Namely, as Printify works with several shipping providers, the quality of service could be inconsistent.

However, I think that if youโ€™re prepared to order sample products to check for print quality, shipping timings, etc., you wonโ€™t go wrong.

Lastly, I also want to highlight that thanks to Printifyโ€™s scalable pricing structure, I think it offers something of value to both newbies and larger enterprises alike.

That's all from me! Please feel free to share whether you might start selling Printify POD products in the comments below!
