Are you a WooCommerce store owner looking for a point of sale solution?
If you are, you're in the right place. Today, I’m looking at one such option: FooSales for WooCommerce.
Here, I’ll give you the lowdown on what it is, its features, prices, and pros and cons so that hopefully, by the end of this FooSales review, you’ll have a better understanding of this WooCommerce POS and whether it’s the right system for your business.
If you’re on the go and don't have time to read my entire FooSales review, here are the headlines:
- FooSales is cross-platform POS software that comes as an iOS, Android, and web app built for WooCommerce store owners.
- FooSales syncs your in-person and online inventory, orders, tax settings and customer data.
- It integrates with Stripe and Square payments, allowing you to accept payments online, over the phone, and in person.
- FooSales is suitable for a wide range of businesses, from fashion and jewelry stores to restaurants, bookstores, events companies, and market stall owners.
- You can use FooSales in nine languages.
Now that we've covered the basics let's dive into the nitty-gritty of this FooSales review:
What is FooSales?
FooSales was launched in 2018 by a team of Canadian and South African-based developers, designers, and customer support and marketing experts.
As mentioned, FooSales is a POS app that syncs your WooCommerce and in-person stores so that you can keep an eye on your:
- Stock levels
- Sales figures
- Order fulfilment processes
- Who your customers are
…All from the convenience of one centralized place.
There are plenty of examples of different types of stores using FooSales, including clothing, restaurants, homeware, farmer's markets, grocery stores, and many more.
As you may have guessed, FooSales connects to your WooCommerce store via a WordPress plugin.
Elsewhere, you can use the app on iOS and Android devices and via the web. The good news is that these apps are free to download! You then need to sign up for a FooSales account to access its features.
As mentioned above, FooSales integrates with Stripe Payments and Square Payments so that you can accept online, on-the-phone, and in-person payments (we’ll go into this in more detail a bit lower down).
How to Get Started with FooSales?
FooSales offers a free seven-day trial with no credit card or billing details required. Click the “Start Free Trial” button on the FooSales homepage to get going. You're then prompted to complete the following three steps:
Step 1: Create an Account
To create a FooSales account, you'll need to type in the following info:
- Your store’s URL
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Password
You're then taken through a series of steps on the FooSales website (as listed below).
Please note: You'll receive an email that walks you through the same steps. So don't worry if you don't have time to do everything there and then!
Step 2: Install FooSales’ WordPress Plugin
Now you have a FooSales account, it's time to install the WordPress plugin so the FooSales app can communicate with your WooCommerce store.
You can do this from your WordPress admin area by clicking:
- Plugins
- Add New
- Search for FooSales
- Follow the installation instructions
Step 3: Connect the FooSales App With Your WooCommerce Store
To connect the FooSales app with your WooCommerce store, download the FooSales app from either the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or use the FooSales web version and enter your WooCommerce store details. Once FooSales connects to your store, it will fetch your existing WooCommerce products, orders, customer and various settings including your tax rates.
Step 4: Configure Payment Integration
This is an optional step (during your free trial).
At this stage, FooSales suggests reading its payments help guide. Here you'll learn how to customize your payment methods and get set up with FooSales' Square Payment and Stripe Payment integrations.
Once you've done that, you can start selling anywhere!
FooSales Features
Yes, you guessed it, here we're taking a closer look at FooSales POS functions.
Below I'll provide a broad overview of each key feature:
Sale
Your WooCommerce products and their variants can be found on the sales screen using FooSales's search bar, category search, or by scanning a barcode using your device’s built-in camera to find a matching product ID or SKU. From here, products can be added to the customer cart where discounts can be applied and the order can be saved or sent to checkout.
Checkout
At checkout you can capture the customers details, apply further fixed or percentage discounts, apply discounts using WooCommerce coupon codes, add order notes, set the payment method, set the order status and submit the order for processing.
Orders
The order screen lists information about each in-person and online order, and provides options to print receipts for past orders, issue refunds, continue incomplete orders, manage order fulfillment, view shipping information and troubleshoot issues.
Customers
You can modify existing WooCommerce customers and add in-person customer details to your database for future marketing opportunities. FooSales complies with EU GDPR.
Products
You can use FooSales as a basic inventory management tool. I.e., you can update product stock and prices directly from your products screen. This information is then immediately updated on your WooCommerce store. Apparently, the web version of this feature offers more advanced editing. However, it’s unclear what this is at the time of writing.
Order Fulfilment
FooSales supports WooCommerce order statuses, shipping methods and order notes, which means it can be used to manage the fulfilment of your online orders, local pickups and in-house deliveries. Since FooSales also uses your WooCommerce customer database, your customers can even order online and complete payment at your store, or place an order at your store and complete payment on your website.
Reports
You can track in-person and online sales, orders, and percentage profits in real time because FooSales seamlessly integrates with WooCommerce analytics order reports.
Units of Measurement
You can sell products in different quantities such as per yard, meter, square meter, pound, and kilogram. This enables you to sell products that use decimal quantities and custom units, for example, if you sell items by length or weight. Types of stores that might use this include hardware, dispensaries, fabric, yarn, etc.
Offline Mode
Offline mode is activated automatically if you lose an internet connection when logged into FooSales.
Then, once you’re reconnected to the internet, FooSales automatically syncs any changes with your online store.
You can also manually activate offline mode via the app settings.
Multi-language
FooSales supports nine languages: English, Afrikaans, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. You can change your language preferences at any time.
Hardware
Connect printers, card readers, barcode scanners, and cash drawers to FooSales (more on this below).
Sell Tickets
You can sell event tickets and bookable services without FooSales taking a commission.
Here’s how:
FooSales integrates with another of its products, FooEvents, a platform that empowers you to sell unlimited tickets from any WooCommerce website. Conference organizers, those hosting sports events, speakers/coaches organizing workshops/training sessions, etc., might find this helpful.
But, although selling tickets is commission and fee-free, you’ll have to purchase an annual subscription plan, most of which are pretty pricey to use this integration. In fact, The cheapest is $69 – so be sure to factor that into your budget to avoid any nasty surprises!
Dark Mode
FooSales supports dark mode, which saves battery life and reduces screen glare and, subsequently, eye strain.
Payments
Out of the box, FooSales supports cash, card, default WooCommerce payment methods, and custom payment methods.
FooSales also integrates with Stripe™ and Square™ payment devices to enable you to process in-store, phone, and online payments.
Also, thanks to these integrations, you don’t have to sync your entire catalog and sales data between WooCommerce, Square, and Stripe.
At this point, it’s also worth mentioning that:
FooSales supports most Stripe Readers for iPad, Android tablets, and the web. Most Stripe readers accept contactless payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Magstripe. On top of card readers, Stripe also offers an array of hardware that FooSales is compatible with. For example, there are eight cash drawers, three barcode scanners, and three wireless desktop printers.
Where Square is concerned, FooSales supports Square Terminal on iPad, Android tablets, and the web. FooSales is also compatible with Square Readers on iPad and Android tablets. On top of that, you can also access a range of Square hardware.
In each instance, Square and Stripe's hardware is listed on the FooSales website, from which you simply click on the product you’re interested in, and you’re either taken to Amazon (in the case of Square) or Stripe’s own website.

FooSales Review: My Final Verdict
Hopefully, this FooSales review has provided enough information to give you a better idea of whether this POS system is the right fit for you.
It’s clear that FooSales for WooCommerce works well for all manner of stores, from fashion to hardware, pet supplies, and tons in between!
In a nutshell, FooSales offers store owners a simple way of syncing their in-person and online operations, hopefully saving you time to work on growing your business. I also like that it has an offline mode for when you don’t have an internet connection, then when you’re back online, it automatically syncs any changes with your store.
However, if you want to try it out, you’ll need a WooCommerce store already in place.
