Picreel Review: Simple Exit Intent Offers That Don’t Burn You Out

Popups and promotional banners are only useful if they're targeted to the customer seeing them.

Think about it: If I land on an ecommerce store and they reveal an exit-intent popup banner for 20% off all ladies merchandise (I'm a guy,) I'm going to close the screen immediately.

It also depends on where the customer is located in the shopping process. For instance, maybe a user is thinking about throwing another item in their cart but they're not quite sure. In that case, you don't want to redirect them to a promotion for another product, but rather keep selling the item they were almost about to buy.

Not all exit offer plugins and apps allow for this type of flexibility, but Picreel seems to do a good job seeing what customers are doing on your site and only sending them the promotions and offers that make sense. So here's an in-depth Picreel review if you'd like to learn more about the most advanced exit intent technology for ecommerce websites.

Since exit-intent offers are so crucial to making quick sales on ecommerce stores, we want to explore the potential of Picreel and figure out whether or not it's worthwhile for Ecommerce Platforms readers. So keep reading to find out!

A Review of Picreel's Features

Lots of Beautiful Templates

I love seeing apps with templates because that means the developers have thought quite a bit about the users. Picreel has a wide range of templates for special offers, coupons, collecting emails, surveys and special templates for mobile devices.

All you have to do is select one of the templates and work with the editor to make it match your brand. All of the design is left to the folks at Picreel, so users without any design or coding skills don't have to worry.

You just punch in the copy and place your logo in there. It's as simple as that.

The Simplest of Editors

Most of the time I would be a little confused as to why an editor doesn't have more features and settings. But in this case, I enjoy the fact that the Picreel developers stuck to the basics.

You don't get a drag and drop editor (which would be nice), but you can adjust everything from colors to text and images to buttons. It's all done on the left-hand control panel, where you can change anything you want for your popup.

Display and Trigger Options

After designing your exit offer popup Picreel asks you when you'd like your offer to show up. Installing the offer on your website only takes a few minutes, but this targeting is where you really get to take advantage of the Picreel technology.

For example, you can choose to remove the popup from your homepage, while also specifying how many seconds it should take for the popup to come up. They even have simple tools for configuring campaigns just for mobile devices.

Picreel Pricing

The Picreel pricing starts with a 30-day free trial with no obligation to keep going or leave your credit card information. In short, you're not stuck into anything with Picreel. You get to try out the system, then decide on whether or not you'd like to proceed with a paid plan.

As for the pricing plans, the following options are available:

  • Starter – $14 per month for up to 3,000 monthly visitors, support for one site, unlimited campaigns and custom templates.
  • Basic – $52 per month for up to 10,000 monthly visitors, support for two sites, unlimited campaigns and custom templates.
  • Plus – $112 per month for up to 50,000 monthly visitors, support for four sites, unlimited campaigns and custom templates.
  • Pro – $299 per month for up to 300,000 monthly visitors, support for potentially more than four sites, unlimited campaigns and custom templates.

Picreel offers monthly and yearly pricing options. The pricing we discussed above is the yearly pricing, so it's broken down by month but you'll have to pay the entire year upfront. That's how they keep the costs so low. You basically get 25% if you get billed yearly.

Each of the plans include:

  • Stats
  • Re-targeting! (I ain't bluffing)
  • Cart and form abandonment
  • CRM Integration
  • Email marketing
  • Timed popups
  • Mobile support
  • A 10-second installation process
  • Email and phone support
  • Full-service management

Picreel Support

As you may have noticed in the pricing section, Picreel has email and phone support for all of these plans. This is extremely good news since you may end up wanting to talk to someone on the phone, and it's not that often you gain access to a direct line like that. In addition, some folks are more comfortable sending a quick email and going back to work.

A blog is offered for things like conversion rate optimization and news, while they also have tutorials and a full video tour for the more visually inclined users.

The knowledge base is the heart of Picreel's support, giving you a chance to search for a keyword or topic and browse through all of the documentation the company has provided. It's also nice that you can reach out to Picreel on some of its many social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter.

After all, sometimes the fastest way to get a response from a support team is through social media.

Who Should Consider Picreel?

Since the free trial is so long and the cheapest pricing plan is rather affordable, I wouldn't rule out any companies on a budget. I think the Picreel platform will pay for itself if you go for the $14 per month plan, then as you scale up you can consider some of the other plans. And the majority of features are packed into the $14 plan anyway.

Therefore, I have a hard time not recommending this to all smaller companies that would like to build their email lists or get more people coming back to their stores. It's not a bad idea for medium and larger companies as well, although you may end up wanting a more powerful exit offer suite.

Overall, I'd say Picreel is just as simple as it needs to be, allowing for ecommerce stores to spend minimal time on exit offers while still reaping the benefits. If you have any questions about this Picreel review, let us know in the comments below.
