Printify shipping rates are one of the core expenses you’ll need to account for when you create your Printify account.

While you can use Printify for free, you still need to pay for the base cost of every item you product, and the price of shipping that product to your customer.

If you choose to pass the cost of shipping over to your customer, knowing how much they’ll need to pay is important, as high shipping costs can deter sales.

Around 49% of online shoppers abandon their carts because of hefty delivery fees.

Alternatively, if you want to boost your chances of conversions by offering free shipping, you’ll need to know how much you will have to pay in delivery fees, so you can adjust your pricing to maintain your profit margins.

Unfortunately, Printify’s shipping costs vary depending on a range of factors, making it hard to estimate how much you or your customer will pay. That’s why I created this guide, to help you navigate the complexities of print-on-demand shipping fees.

How Does Printify Charge for Shipping?

Printify is a little different to some other well-known POD companies, in that it connects creators with a global network of partners and printers, who produce orders for them.

This means your shipping costs will vary depending not just on your shipping method, product type, and delivery destination, but also on the print provider you choose.

As an example, here are shipping fees from two companies selling the same sweatshirt product:

On top of that, Printify merchants have the option to choose between various shipping options for products (once again, depending on the provider you choose, and other factors).

For instance:

Another point to note is that while most products on Printify will qualify for a reduced shipping rate if they belong to the same category (like phone cases), and are fulfilled by the same provider, this isn’t always the case.

Depending on your orders, you may have to pay the full shipping fee for each product. That’s particularly true if you’re ordering from different suppliers for the same customer.

What about Printify Express Delivery?

Printify does offer an “Express Delivery” option, but it’s not applicable to every product. This fulfillment method allows you to speed up delivery and production times to just 2-3 business days. This is great if you want to delight customers with quick shipments.

Unfortunately, the service is only available in the US, and for two of Printify’s popular t-shirt products, the Bella+Canvas 3001 t-shirt, and Gildan 5000 t-shirts.

Express delivery isn’t available for anything else at this time, but you might still be able to access Priority delivery.

Printify Express delivery costs $7.99, which is pretty standard for ultra-fast delivery, within the US, in the print on demand landscape.

You can always give your customers the option to choose between express or standard delivery at checkout, and pass the fee over to them.

How to Find Printify Shipping Rates

While Printify Express shipping costs are consistent, other shipping fees are extremely variable. They depend on what kind of product you’re ordering, your location, your provider, and various other factors.

Fortunately, there are a few ways to calculate shipping rates on Printify, so you can give your customers transparent information on your product pages.

Option 1: Visit the Shipping Rate Page

One of the easiest ways to take a deep dive into Printify’s potential shipping costs is to visit the company’s “Shipping Rates” page.

This is basically a dedicated resource where you can see a list of all of Printify’s global print providers.

All you need to do to calculate your shipping rates is scroll down until you see the brand you’re interested in working with. You can find brands relevant to your POD niche by checking out Printify’s product catalog before this step.

Once you find the company you’re interested in, click on “See Rates” and you’ll be taken to a page that lists the shipping rates for all items the print partner sells, organized based on category, shipping location, first item, and additional item rates:

Option 2: Use Printify’s Product Catalog

Personally, I think using Printify’s product catalog is the easiest way to rapidly find shipping rates for the products you want to sell. You don’t even need to sign into your account. Just visit the Printify website and click on the “Catalog” tab, then choose the product category you’re interested in.

I recommend filtering your search by your location too, as this will show you the top vendors in your region first. Plus, it will show you if Express delivery is available.

Once you’ve found a product you’re interested in, click on the image or product name, and you’ll be taken to the product page. Here, you’ll see an immediate insight into potential shipping costs listed alongside the product image. However, if you’re logged into your Printify account, you can scroll down and compare the shipping rates from different providers too.

Here’s an example of the shipping rates offered by some of the top UK vendors of Printify’s “Unisex Jersey Short Sleeve” shirt:

Option 3: Create a Test Order

Finally, if you’re ordering products from different categories and vendors, the easiest way to figure out how much you’re going to pay in shipping, is to create a test order. To do this, log into your free Printify account, and head to the “My Products” section in the dashboard.

Click on “create order” then “Sample” or “Manual”, and select the items you want to add to your cart from your existing collection. Once you’ve added products to your order, you can click on “Shipping”, and enter shipping details for a specific location.

The Printify platform will then calculate the shipping costs for you, based on the charges set by your chosen print providers. Keep in mind, these costs might vary slightly depending on the exact location of your customer, but this process will give you a basic idea of what to expect.

Are Printify Shipping Rates Reasonable?

Obviously, Printify shipping rates can vary quite a lot, making it difficult to estimate exactly what you, or your customer, is going to pay for every order. However, for the most part, I think Printify’s shipping rates are pretty reasonable. It all depends on which supplier you choose.

On the plus side, you can always sort through available print partners with the “lowest shipping” feature, if you’re worried about shipping expenses.
