In this Vistaprint review, weโ€™re taking a closer look at a popular printing partner for small business owners, growing companies and entrepreneurs.

Weโ€™ve reviewed plenty of print on demand companies in the past, and Vistaprint has often stood out for its ability to create fantastic business cards and marketing materials.

However, in recent years, the printing company has evolved beyond simple photo books and calendars.

Quick Verdict:

Vistaprint is easy to use, and the products are fantastic in terms of quality. Plus, with the Wix website builder partnership, designing an online presence is simple.

The biggest downside of Vistaprint is the pricing, as a lot of products are more expensive than you might expect, and shipping can cost a lot depending on where you are in the world.

While itโ€™s not as versatile as some POD companies like Printful and Printify, itโ€™s a good option for beginners, particularly if youโ€™re looking for help building a website or logo, as well as creating items.

Today, Vistaprint also offers companies the opportunity to create and sell merchandise, such as t-shirts and bags. It also has its own logo design tools, and a website builder, powered by Wix.

Letโ€™s take a closer look at everything Vistaprint can offer business owners in 2024.

What is Vistaprint?

Vistaprint is a global ecommerce company, direct mail service, and print on demand company that allows small businesses to create high-quality branded products.

It launched in 1995, initially providing printing services for business cards, and similar promotional products.

Now, however, entrepreneurs have plenty of unique Vistaprint products to choose from, including:

  • Clothing
  • Bags
  • Labels
  • Stickers
  • Branded packaging
  • Promotional products
  • Wedding invitations
  • Business Cards

Additionally, Vistaprint partnered with Wix to offer business leaders access to a simple website builder, and the option to purchase domain names.

Vistaprint even offers access to simple logo design tools, a QR code generator, and design services offered by specialists throughout the creative community.

Vistaprint Plans and Pricing

There are a few different prices to consider when you use Vistaprint to create your assets or online store. First, itโ€™s worth noting that you can sign up for Vistaprint and start using the design tools and dashboards for free.

You can even use your Google account to sign in, which we found very convenient. However, if you wan to add your designs to products, you will need to pay for the cost of every item you create, as well as shipping.

The good news is there are no minimum order quantity requirements, so if you want to sell โ€œprint on demandโ€ solutions, you can do so with ease.

However, some of the products can be quite expensive compared to other POD suppliers. However, you do get a lot more control over customization and material options than you would with some providers. You can even create full custom performance hoodies and polo shirts.

If youโ€™re accessing Vistaprintโ€™s design services, youโ€™ll also have additional costs to pay (per month) for expert support. The pricing varies depending on the level of support you need.

If youโ€™re using Vistaprint for website design, thereโ€™s a monthly fee to consider for a Wix subscription. While you can create and test a site for free, youโ€™ll pay around $23 per month for a basic website, or $16 per month if you pay annually.

If you want to sell products, youโ€™ll need a Business account. Options include:

  • Wix Business Basic: $23 per month with a free domain name, ecommerce platform, 5 hours of video, analytics, unlimited bandwidth and 20GB of storage space.
  • Business Unlimited: $27 per month for the features of Basic, plus third-party apps, 35GB of storage space, and a Wix logo maker.
  • Wix Business VIP: $49 per month for the features of Unlimited plus 500GB of storage, unlimited video hours, priority support, and more.

Who Owns Vistaprint?

Vistaprint is owned by Cimpress, a publicly traded business from Ireland. Technically, Vistaprint is one of the services offered by a larger company (Vista). The Vista brand is responsible for everything from VistaCreate, to 99Designs, and the Vista and Wix website builder.

Notably, while Vista offers website design services through Wix, neither company owns the other. Rather, Vista partnered with Wix to allow organizations to build websites with intuitive design tools (and more than 500 templates), as well as purchase their own domain names.

Products and Design Quality

As mentioned above, in earlier years, most people associated Vistaprint with business card and marketing material production.

Weโ€™ve often been impressed by the quality of Vistaprintโ€™s stationery products, such as labels, and signs, banners, flyers, and posters.

However, VistaPrint has also evolved over the years to offer a wider range of items to companies looking to design and sell branded merchandise.

The company uses the latest in printing technology, as well as high-quality materials to ensure phenomenal quality.

Plus, the brand has a fantastic satisfaction guarantee, called โ€œAbsolutely Guaranteedโ€. This means if youโ€™re not happy with the quality of your items, you can contact the company and request a correction.

Vistaprint Design Tools and Ease of Use

One of the things we really love about Vistaprint, is how easy it is to start creating your own custom products, and manage all of your projects.

Once you sign up for an account with the platform, youโ€™ll be able to log into a comprehensive account dashboard.

Once you start a project, the design tools are incredibly easy to use. All you do is choose a product you want to create and choose a template.

After uploading your own graphic elements, you can adjust components of your design on the Vistaprint.com platform, altering the position of different components, and experimenting with fonts and colors.

Our favorite part of the overall Vistaprint experience is the โ€œbrand kitโ€ option, which allows you to upload your logo, and save your favorite templates, colors, and fonts.

This is ideal if you want to make sure your brand image is consistent across all the assets you create.

Weโ€™ve reviewed the Wix website builder in the past, and the experience you get on the Vista site is very similar. Youโ€™ll still have access to more than 500 professional templates, as well as the Wix no-code editor, for customizing your site.

You can also answer a few questions and have Wix and Vista create a branded website for you, using artificial intelligence.

With the Wix toolkit, you can create your own blog, design an online store, and accept bookings online. Plus, you can edit the mobile version of your site separately with the mobile editor to create a unique smartphone experience.

The Wix website builder comes with built-in SEO (Search engine optimization) tools to help ensure you can stand out online.

Plus, thereโ€™s an included logo builder, which you can access for free to create a unique logo, as well as the option to create your own custom domain.

Once you purchase domain names, and start building websites with Wix, you can manage everything in your Vistaprint dashboard.

Plus, you can upload products and assets from Vistaprint straight into your Wix website, which is ideal if you want to start selling branded assets.

Though the websites you can build are good quality, itโ€™s worth remembering that you may still encounter limitations compared to competitors like Shopify.

Wix isnโ€™t quite as robust when it comes to features like omnichannel selling.

Vistaprint Alternatives

Overall, we consider Vistaprint to be an excellent solution for both branded merchandise creation, and designing a basic on demand printing website or logo.

However, there are some fantastic alternatives out there if Vistaprint doesnโ€™t work for you, such as:

Similar to Printful, Printify is a phenomenal print on demand vendor with an exceptional reputation for product quality. The main difference between Printify and Printful, is that Printify connects your business with a range of third-party producers, rather than manufacturing products in-house.

Printfection

Ideal for companies creating custom swag and branded merchandise for employees, Printfection is a powerful tool for creating unique products and distributing items to your team. You can even manage all of your goods in one backend environment, similar to Vistaprint, or other print providers like Moo.

It benefits from a phenomenal range of products, excellent printing quality, and an eco-friendly approach to production.
