dropshippingXL by vidaXL Review: How Does This Service Stand Up to Scrutiny?

If you’re reading this dropshippingXL review, maybe you're considering launching your own dropshipping business? Or perhaps you want to offer more dropshipping products on your online store? 

In either instance, you could be in the market for a dropshipping supplier directory. 

Of course, there are plenty to choose from, so I’m helping cut through the noise by reviewing one such option: dropshippingXL by vidaXL.

In this dropshippingXL review, I'll discuss what dropshippingXL is, how it works, its integrations, pros, and cons. 

However, if you don't have time to read my entire dropshippingXL review, here are my key takeaways:

I like that you can access over 90,000 dropshipping products – that’s pretty impressive. However, I’m not a huge fan that you have to pay extra to third parties to integrate your dropshippingXL account with your sales channels. 

Not only does this add to the cost, but compared to other dropshipping supplier directories (like Spocket) that offer native integrations, this seems needlessly complicated. 

So, with all that said, let's dig into this dropshippingXL review:

What Is dropshippingXL?

dropshippingXL is brought to you by the vidaXL company, a global online retailer based in the Netherlands.

According to its website, dropshippingXL is designed to help newbies kickstart their own dropshipping businesses. 

As with most dropshipping services, you enjoy the freedom of launching your own sales channels, setting product prices, and marketing your brand. However, dropshippingXL handles warehousing, picking, packing, shipping, and, most notably, returns, so you don't have to.

dropshippingXL boasts a community of over 4,000 small business owners, some of whom, according to dropshippingXL, are generating ‘thousands of dollars’ a month.

dropshippingXL users benefit from:

• Access to a staggering 90,000+ products across an array of niches, including furniture, garden accessories, sporting goods, home improvement products, toys, and pet products. 
• You can sell in 34 countries across Europe, Australia, Canada, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. 
• You can sell products localized to your market – dropshippingXL provides product content in 26 different languages.
• dropshippingXL handles returns on your behalf for free! (Providing the return is requested within 30 days after the customer receives the order). Please note: There are exceptions for Australia and Norway if the return reason is ‘Not as expected.’ You can learn more about dropshippingXL's returns policies here.

How Does dropshippingXL Work?

Now I've covered the basics of what dropshippingXL is and what it has to offer, here’s how it works:

1. First, create a dropshippingXL account. Click the “Sign up” button on dropshippingXL’s home page. Then, choose the country you wish to sell to and fill in the required info. You’ll be asked to specify your account type, ‘business user’ or ‘private user.’ If you have a VAT number, select ‘business'; if not, click ‘private.' After that, you’ll be asked for the standard SaaS account creation stuff (name, phone number, address, email, and password). Then hit ‘Create Account.'
2. You’ll then be prompted to subscribe to dropshippingXL for €30 a month (more on pricing below).
3. dropshippingXL will take between two to five business days to verify your account. Once verified, you’ll receive a confirmation email. This will contain your login information to start using your dropshippingXL account, so keep an eye on your inbox! 
4. You can then browse dropshippingXL’s catalog of 90,000+ vidaXL products to add to your chosen sales channels.
5. Once you've picked your products, you can set your product prices and sell to customers in 32 different countries. At the time of writing, you can ship to:

1. Only once dropshippingXL has received payment for your customer's order will they prepare and ship your product(s). At this point, it’s worth noting that dropshippingXL also handles all shipping duties on your behalf.
2. dropshippingXL will then send you a tracking code by email (which you can also access from the “Order History” section of your dropshippingXL account).

dropshippingXL Shipping Costs

Interestingly, apart from Australia, dropshippingXL doesn’t charge shipping costs. 

That’s pretty neat, right?

Where Australia is concerned, customers enjoy free shipping if they’re located in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane. However, shipping to other areas in Australia varies depending on the location and parcel weight.

Integrations

dropshippingXL partners with various third parties to enable you to integrate your dropshippingXL account and vidaXL’s product data (also known as the data feed) with your eCommerce store/online marketplace listings. 

The product data feed includes stock levels, product content, and pricing. Inventory data is updated hourly, and product prices are updated daily. The data feed is also available in .csv or .xml formats. 

However, these integrations aren't free, and in some instances, it's unclear how much they cost, which makes budgeting difficult. 

Of course, the integrations you’ll need vary depending on your preferred sales channels. 

So, with that in mind, here’s how much some of these third-party integrations cost:

• Woosa: Starting from €69 a month, Woosa is available to users worldwide and integrates dropshippingXL with WooCommerce. You can import all of vidaXL’s products, access real-time stock and price updates, benefit from automatic order processing, define profit margins, and more.
• Wise XML: This integration has no advertised price, so I advise contacting them directly for more info. Again, Wise XML is available worldwide and integrates WooCommerce, Opencart, PrestaShop, Magento 1 & 2, Pigu.lt, 220.lv, and more, with dropshippingXL. You get similar features as the Woosa integration above, as well as access to bulk price markups; you can set discount rules and upload product variants. 
• Channable: Starting from $39 a month. Channable is available to users in Benelux, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the UK, Norway, and the USA. This integrates WooCommerce, Shopify, PrestaShop, Magento, Amazon, eBay, and more, with dropshippingXL. Again, you get similar features as above, plus a PPC tool.
• Sellrapido: Like Wise XML, I couldn’t see a price listed for this integration, so I recommend contacting them directly. Sellrapido is available to users in countries located throughout the majority of Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan, the UAE, and more. It can integrate dropshippingXL with WooCommerce, Shopify, PrestaShop, Magento, Amazon, eBay, and more. You’ll enjoy similar features listed above and the ability to customize merchandise categories. 

dropshippingXL Pricing

dropshippingXL claims that its pricing is transparent. 

On its website, it says you only have to pay €30 per month for a dropshippingXL subscription, which on the surface is true. 

However, in all likelihood, you’ll need to shell out for one of the third-party integrations mentioned above to sync your dropshippingXL account with your sales channels.

 So, in reality, you’ll probably need to budget more than €30 a month.

That said, for dropshippingXL's €30 a month subscription plan, you’ll get access to the following:

• Real-time data feeds that enable you to keep tabs on product data, pricing, stock, etc.
• Bulk import functionality
• API access
• A catalog of over 90,000 dropshipping products for you to browse through and sell 
• dropshippingXL handles returns on your behalf 

If you wish to cancel your dropshippingXL subscription, you can do so anytime. Just email [email protected] to tell them you want to cancel their services. 

dropshippingXL Customer Service

Upon inspecting dropshippingXL’s customer service page, their customer support offering seems needlessly complicated. 

For example, let's say you wish to get in touch with dropshippingXL via their contact form. In that case, you need to do your research first to determine which contact form to use! dropshippingXL provides the following table to explain which contact form to utilize in which instance: 

Please note: In either case, you can expect a response within one business day. I tested this myself and received a reply within roughly 12 and a half hours.

dropshippingXL also makes it very clear how to send a customer support query (which isn't something we're familiar with). The rules state you should only:

• Send one email per case.
• You should not include multiple orders in one email.
• Once a case is open, do not start a new email thread; reply to the previous email instead.
• Quote the relevant order number in the subject line. 
• Where applicable, include pictures or videos as an attachment (max. is 20M).

dropshippingXL also offers a chat service. This is available via its online Help Center. However, you can only use this support avenue if tracking information isn’t available and you wish to cancel an order or change the recipient’s address. This seems needlessly rigid. 

The chat service is available Monday to Sunday from 9.00 AM to 24.00 PM (CST).

In either instance, the claim of 24/7 customer support seems a stretch. Although you can send a customer query via the contact form at any time if you have to wait an average of one business day for a response, is this really a 24/7 service? We're not sure it is. 

dropshippingXL Pros and Cons

We’ve covered a fair amount of ground, so let’s condense some of what we’ve discussed into a quick pro-cons list:

Pros

• There’s a massive number of dropshipping products to choose from (+90,000) 
• Access to real-time data feeds is a plus. When synced correctly, this should ensure you and your customers are up-to-date on product pricing, stock, and other order management-related info.
• dropshippingXL handles your return requests for free – that's a significant advantage.
• You can add vidaXL's product imagery to your eCommerce store. 
• All items have a two to three-year warranty.

Cons

• Although it's true you have the option of selling to customers in 32 countries, you have to pick just one per dropshippingXL account. So, we found the initial claim somewhat misleading. So, suppose you're running a global dropshipping business. In that case, you'll need to purchase separate subscriptions for each country you wish to ship to, which, needless to say, could get pretty expensive!
• Although users can set up multiple dropshippingXL accounts, the process is somewhat inconvenient. Namely because your email address is only valid for one account. So, you'll likely have to create new email addresses to purchase multiple subscriptions. 
• You have to pay for dropshippingXL's subscription via PayPal; there aren't other payment options. So if you're not a PayPal fan, you're out of luck.
• You can't brand your product packaging.

dropshippingXL Review: My Final Thoughts

So there you have it; that’s all for my dropshippingXL review. I hope this has provided some food for thought. 

Here’s my final verdict:

First, let's start with the positives. Overall, I think dropshippingXL’s colossal catalog of dropshipping products is impressive. I also like that, generally speaking, they’ll handle refunds on your behalf for free and that they don’t charge shipping costs. On both counts, this is pretty unique!

However, as I've made clear throughout my dropshippingXL review, I don't like that you’ll have to pay extra to a third party to integrate your dropshippingXL account with your sales channels. Not only does this add to the cost, but it seems like an unwanted faff.
