My Bottom Line Upfront
No worries if you don't have time to read my entire Smartli review. Here, I'll quickly outline a couple of my key takeaways:
- Smartli is best suited to Shopify store owners who need a helping hand in writing high-quality copy.
- Smartli is an easy-to-use text generator for writing and enhancing blog posts, product descriptions, ad copy, and more.
- The cheapest option is $29 a month, so you'll need to budget for this accordingly.
What is Smartli?
Smartli launched in December 2022 and was built by Innovations Labs, the same developers who created the beauty dropshipping platform Jubilee.
In short, Smartli is an AI-fuelled text generator you can use to produce:
- Blogs
- Essays
- Ads
- Product descriptions
- Product titles
- SEO-optimized content
It also helps you to rewrite and enhance existing content.
Smartli is affiliated with the dropshipping supplier platform Spocket. You can access Smartli via its own website, a link on the Spocket homepage, or the Shopify App Store.
Why Use Smartli?
There are several reasons why you might add Smartli to your ecommerce toolbox.
Most marketers spend one to two hours writing a 500-word blog post. However, Smartli’s AI technology can drastically reduce that time, allowing you to focus on other money-generating activities.
Smartli not only aids in crafting compelling copy but also offers SEO to enhance your content and increase your presence on search engines. This is vital for driving organic traffic to your eCommerce store.
Lastly, rather than collaborating with writers during standard working hours, you can use Smartli day or night, 24/7, wherever you are. This doesn’t mean you can do without writers entirely. However, it does mean you can utilize Smartli whenever you need it, making it a practical option.
How Smartli Works
Getting started is really simple. Navigate to the Smartli homepage. In the top-right corner, click “Try Smartli Free.”
Enter your name and email address and select “Get started.”
Once done, you’re in! You'll be taken directly to the Smartli dashboard.
This is your AI powerhouse. From the left-side menu of your dashboard, you can access the Smartli:
- AI Product Editor
- AI Ads Writer
- AI Blog Writer
To the right of that, there's an explanatory video that walks you through:
- How to install the Smartli app
- How to create a blog
- How to generate product descriptions
- How to import products if you want to generate product descriptions
- How to cancel
- How to create ads
- How to subscribe
It’s also here that you can access the Smartli free 1-week trial, which you can do by clicking the green “get started” button.
Once clicked, you’re taken to a popup where you can choose which of Smartli’s four paid subscription plans you want to trial (more about these later).
Alternatively, you can access Smartli via the Shopify App Store.
- First, head to Smartli's Shopify App Store listing.
- Click “Install”
- This then takes you to the “Install app” page within your dashboard. Now, click “Install.”
- The Smartli dashboard will then open.
Straightforward, right?
Now, let's take a closer look at Smartli's core functionality in more detail:
AI Product Editor
From the left-side menu, click “AI Product Editor.”
To hit the ground running with this tool, you need to import products from your store.
To do this, click the “Import products from store” button. Then select the products you want to import.
Wait a few seconds for the product(s) to load, then select ‘Generate Description.'
You're then directed to a page displaying the product's current description, with pre-populated fields, including:
- Product name
- Product type
- Vendor
- Keywords
You can edit all of the above.
You can also see the original product description.
When you're ready to generate a product description using Smartli's AI, click ‘ Generate.'
AI Ads Writer
Click “AI Ads Writer” on the left-side menu of your Smartli dashboard.
This takes you to a page listing all the different ads Smartli can generate copy for. This includes:
- Facebook Ad Headline:
- Facebook Ad Primary Text
- Instagram Post Captions:
- Google Ad Headlines:
- Google Ad Descriptions:
- TikTok (catchy text for TikTok videos_
- Pinterest Pin Title and Description
- Variations on an ad you already have (I.e., create alternatives to existing copy).
Let's take a look at one of these in action.
Here, I'll generate a Google ad headline.
To do this, I clicked “Google Headlines.”
Smartli then prompts you to fill in several boxes, including:
- The product/brand name: e.g., “eco-friendly cotton t-shirts”
- A description of what it is: e.g., “100% organic cotton t-shirts for environmentally conscious young women.”
- Select a tone of voice (from a drop-down menu: friendly, witty, persuasive, bold, luxurious, empathetic, and urgency)
Once you've done this, click the “Generate” button to see what Smartli comes up with.
Similar to generating Google headline copy, if you want to create a Facebook ad headline, Smartli will prompt you to provide the following information:
- Product/brand name
- A description
- Your preferred tone of voice.
AI Blog Writer
To use Smartli to produce blog posts, click the “AI Blog Writer” tab on the left-side menu of your Smartli dashboard.
Then, click “Create a blog.”
You can select one of four blog templates: gift guide, how-to guide, roundup/listicle, or standard blog.
Once you've made your choice, Smartli prompts you to add the following details:
- Title of the blog (optional)
- A brief description of what the blog is supposed to be about
- The tone of voice from a drop-down menu (as before)
- Keywords – you can add up to ten manually or have Smartli's AI generate keywords for you.
- How many words long do you want your blog post – you can choose from a standard blog of up to 1,000 words or a long-form of up to 2,000.
When done, you then click “Generate.”
Once you have your blog, you can edit the text until you’re happy with the finished product.

Smartli Review: My Final Thoughts
That brings my Smartli review to a close! Hopefully, you now have a clearer idea of what Smartli AI can do for your eCommerce store.
Suppose you’re short on time and copywriting and SEO aren’t part of your skill set. In that case, Smartli could help you write engaging eCommerce copy while freeing you up to focus on other areas of your business.
On the downside, Smartli only appears to integrate with Shopify, so you're out of luck if your store is built using any other eCommerce platform. In addition, it’s a shame you have to part with credit card details before you can unlock Smartli’s trial.
That's all from me, over to you! Are you thinking about trying Smartli? Or are you already using it or a different AI copywriting tool? Let us know in the comments below!
