The week is coming to an end,it has been an interesting week in the ecommerce industry,a lot has happened for the most popular ecommerce platforms. This week saw Magento being targeted in an attack, eWay partnering with Shopify and much more.
Attackers are using a sneaky method to steal payment card data from websites using Magento, eBay’s widely used ecommerce platform. Researchers from Sucuri, a company that specializes in securing websites, said the attackers can collect any data submitted by a user to Magento but carefully filters out anything that doesn’t look like credit card data.
Today, building an ecommerce site from scratch is easier than pie. A free and versatile platform such as Spaces or a complete out-of-box solution like LemonStand can turn your entrepreneurial dreams into digital reality in minutes. However, simply setting up an ecommerce site is not enough. Without knowing the numbers behind your business, you will find your entrepreneurial venture short-lived.
Ecommerce made it a breeze for a shopper to buy something from the other side of the country. Now, retailers and delivery companies are making it just as easy for shoppers to buy something on the other side of the world. Blogger Shannyn Allan recently saw a $70-plus faux stone necklace in a boutique near her home in Chicago. She snapped a photo, ran it through Google Image and found a website where she could get the same one for $16 with approximately $7 added for shipping. It arrived on her doorstep about three weeks later—three weeks, because it was coming from China.
Hewlett-Packard CEO Meg Whitman once said “Communications is at the heart of ecommerce and community.” And marketing is all about good communications. So how do you communicate the value and desirability of your ecommerce brand to consumers?
Australian-based, global online payments provider eWay has sealed an expanded partnership with global ecommerce store giant, Shopify. eWAY says Shopify’s integration with its Rapid 3.1 API means merchants gain enterprise level fraud protection, access to token payments for easier repeat purchasing and integration to a “PreAuth” feature which allows merchants to reserve funds on a customer's credit card without charging it.
