Currently, Wix is the driving force behind millions of websites, and you don’t even need a bunch of tech skills to use it.

Wix Pricing Plans:

  • Light: $16/mo
  • Core: $27/mo
  • Business: $32/mo
  • Business Elite: $159/mo

What is Wix?

Wix delivers everything you could want from a professional site builder, from stunning layouts that work for small and large companies alike, to ecommerce solutions for online stores. What’s more, the drag-and-drop functionality of the Wix website builder ensures that you don’t need too much extra help to get started.

Of course, just because Wix offers a fantastic website builder to large and small business owners alike, doesn’t mean it’s affordable. Budget is still one of the most important factors for any company when it comes to making growth decisions.

Today, we’re going to explore the ins and outs of Wix pricing, so you can make the right decision for your company.

A Quick Glance at Wix Pricing

wix pricing plans 2023

Let’s start with the basics.

The Wix website builder has pricing options that range from $4.50 to a lot more. The amount you spend will depend on your needs, and the kind of functionality that you can’t do without.

Currently, the cheapest way to get started with Wix is to just use the “Combo” package, for $13 per month. Notably, there is a “Connect Domain” option on the pricing page for $4 per month, but that doesn’t actually let you build a website – it just gives you the option to add your own domain name.

Wix also has a free plan, but you don’t get a custom domain with it, and you’re stuck dealing with Wix ads throughout your website.

Aside from the “Connect Domain” option, there are 6 pricing plans to choose from with Wix, starting with Combo, and ranging up to Business VIP. There’s also the option to use Wix Enterprise, which will require a quote from the Wix service team for you to get started.

All of the Wix pricing plans come with certain features, Unlimited Bandwidth is available from the “Unlimited” plan, and up, as is extra storage. You can connect your own domain on all of the plans too, with the “Connect Domain” extra.

Who is Wix For?

Before we dive any deeper into Wix pricing, let’s see who this site builder was actually designed for.

In our opinion, Wix makes the ideal site building tool for restaurants, small business owners, online stores, and creative professionals looking to sell their work. The visually stunning layouts mean that you’ll make an impact on Google, and you can make yourself look like a pro with extra apps.

Wix gives you the structure you need for building a website (aside from the free domain), and you can add the rest of the extras to it, by choosing themes or working with apps.

If you’re a small business looking for an easy way to get started online, then a Wix site could be the ideal choice for you. It offers plenty of simplicity for beginners, and a lot of flexibility for a relatively low price. However, Wix isn’t right for everyone.

Wix Pros and Cons

How Much Does Wix Really Cost?

Wix has a selection of pricing options to choose from, ranging from the Lite plan at $16/mo, to the Business Elite plan at $122 per month. If you want an enterprise-focused pricing solution, then you’ll need to upgrade by asking for a quote from the Wix team. The prices for Wix Enterprise seem to start at around $500, but it will depend on the kind of functionality you need.

Here are all of the Wix plans, (based on USA prices)

  • Light: $16/mo
  • Core: $27/mo
  • Business: $32/mo
  • Business Elite: $159/mo
  • Enterprise plan: Quoted

There isn’t any VAT included in this pricing, so you might need to double check to see what you’re actually paying for your eCommerce plan when you’re going through the checkout.

Like with most online store builders, from Squarespace to Shopify, Wix does allow you to save some money by choosing to pay annually for your subscription, instead of year. You will save a decent amount with an annual bill, so we recommend trying this if you can.

When you choose annual fees instead of a monthly payment, you can save between 17% and 33%, which is a huge bonus for business owners trying to cut costs. Additionally, upgrading could also give you access to more features that you wouldn’t get in your monthly plans, like premium apps and free domains. Wix regularly runs promotions to capture the attention of customers.

If you want to remove Wix ads and limitations from your site, as well as using a custom domain that doesn’t have “Wix” in the title, you’ll need the $16 Lite plan at the very least. The free Wix plan might be good for testing out some of the features, but it’s definitely not what you’re looking for long-term.

For online stores, and digital selling, you’re going to need at least the Combo plan, but honestly, you’ll benefit more from something with more generous features. For instance, the Business Elite for $159 per month will provide unlimited bandwidth, which is helpful for an online store. However, the Business Basic Plan is the first plan available with dedicated features for online selling.

A Deep Dive into Wix Pricing Options

Wix splits its pricing options into two distinct categories.

Wix Webisite Plans

First, you have the plans for people who just want to build a website. If you’re looking for make money online with blogging and affiliate marketing, for instance, then these would be the plans for you. The initial plans range from $6 to $159 per month.

The Light Plan

The Combo plan is the cheapest business online website plan, which starts at £6 per month. This solution comes with tons of extra features compared to the free plan, including the ability to remove Wix ads so you can finally build your brand.

You can access embedded videos with this service, and a free domain for up to 1 year. Additionally, the 30 minutes of video means that you can ensure that your video content streams in HD quality. Other features include the option to use up to 2GB of bandwidth and 2GB of storage.

Currently, Wix is also offering up to £75 of advertising vouchers for people on the Combo plan, so it could be a good choice for people who want to launch quickly online.

Best for: If you’re looking to build a website for personal use or blogging, then the Combo plan is a good bet. It’s good value for money if your website is only small in scale.

The Core Plan

The Unlimited Plan is slightly more expensive than the Combo plan, at £8.50 per month. However, it does provide a lot more functionality for the extra cost. As well as accessing all of the features that you would get from the Combo plan, the Unlimited plan provides you with access to extra storage, up to 10GB, and unlimited bandwidth.

You still get to remove Wix ads and unlock a free domain for a year. What’s more, you can access two extra apps which make your website even more impressive. The Site Booster app, which is worth £60, can help to improve your sites chances of discovery in Google.

On the other hand, the Visitor Analytics app ensures that when you do attract new customers to your store, you can learn more about them and the products that they’re most interested in.

The Unlimited Plan is excellent for removing some of the limitations of the lower price options provided by Wix. Additionally, the range of content options means that you have more chances to create stunning websites, with new ways to engage your audience.

Best for: This plan is well suited to smaller businesses, freelances, and entrepreneurs. If you’re looking for a way to get started online with things like SEO and blogging, then this is the app for you. You get an experience similar to Google analytics, and lots of ways to connect with customers.

The Business Plan

If the unlimited plan isn’t enough for you, then there are still other business plans to consider. For instance, the Pro plan is one of the best value for money paid plan options from Wix. Available for £18 per month, the Pro plan will help you master your branding.

The VIP plan gives you unlimited bandwidth, 20GB storage, and everything that you got from the Unlimited plan, plus a lot of extras. You get two hours of video, the visitor analytics and site boosting app. What’s more, you also get a professional logo designed for you.

Another brilliant feature of the VIP plan is that it comes with social media logo files, so you can build your presence on social channels, and you get priority responses from the Wix team too. If you’re looking for VIP support, this could definitely be a good choice.

Best for: Businesses that need help getting started online, along with some branding support. This option is a brilliant choice for anyone who needs to design a logo and make a name for themselves on the web, without starting an online store.

Which is the Best Website Plan?

The best website plan will depend on what you’re looking for in a business website. For most small company owners, the Combo plan will be an excellent choice for saving money. You can have your own custom domain, and the fact that you can remove ads is a huge bonus. However, for value for money, you might find that the Unlimited option is more appealing, as it gives you the freedom to scale as much as you like.

Wix Business Elite Plan

Business VIP

Finally, the Business Elite plan is the most expensive Wix pricing option, underneath the Enterprise service where you have a price quoted for you based on your unique circumstances. Starting at a price of $159 per month, the Business VIP plan is the eCommerce upgrade of the regular VIP plan from Wix.

You get your professional logo designed for you, as you did on the Unlimited plan, and your social media logo files. There’s also access to unlimited bandwidth and unlimited video hours, as well as a free domain for a year. Everything from the Unlimited plan comes included with this package, but you do upgrade to 50GB of storage – which is a nice touch.

Another huge bonus of the Wix Business VIP plan is that it comes with the priority response and VIP support service that you might need if you need a little extra help online. Not only does this plan have the most storage of any plan currently offered by Wix, but it’s also packed full of functionality to help your business grow too.

Because VIP support is included, you can rest assured that if you have any issues with your online site, you can easily get some support from a professional.

Best for: We’d recommend this VIP plan if you have a larger store that’s growing at a rapid rate. The VIP plan will provide you with more storage, and a wider range of features to choose from. Plus, the extra VIP support will come in handy.

The Wix Enterprise Plan

From the Unlimited plan with 10gb storage, to the VIP Business plan, there are plenty of Wix premium plan options to choose from. You can decide whether you want to be able to take credit card payments, or if you just want an easy site that competes with WordPress, and offers access to things like email marketing, and form builder tools.

But what if you need something more advanced?

Wix clearly has options for people who are just getting started in business, and freelancers that only need 2GB of bandwidth. It even has packages available if you’re willing to pay for an annual plan and save some money. However, if you want an enterprise-grade experience, you’ll need to contact customer support.

Wix does have an enterprise solution available, but it isn’t listed with the rest of the pricing plans on the Wix website. You’ll need to schedule a call with a professional to talk through the individual needs of your business. With Wix for Enterprise, you can create, collaborate, and bring digital transformation to your brand in no time.

Wix Enterprise offers support for HR and Internal branding teams, Design teams, and marketing gurus, with tons of extra features to choose from. Some of the features available on the enterprise plan include:

  • Enterprise level security: Compliant with the highest standards worldwide
  • Scalable hosting: Your hosting constantly adapts to suit your needs without any installation required.
  • SSL certification: Support for encrypting your website and keeping data safe
  • Corvid for open development: The Wix open development platform helps you add custom code and APIs to your site in seconds
  • Privacy regulations: Wix will help you to comply with all the privacy protection laws of your area.
  • Collaboration tools: You can assign custom roles to your team members and let everyone work together to accomplish new things.
  • Advanced security monitoring: Keep your data monitored with extra security standards.
  • Integrations: Update your site performance with APIs and third-party tools
  • CS software: Ensure you’re delivering the best possible customer experience on every platform.

Once again, to get a price for the Enterprise version of Wix, you will need to contact the team, as there isn’t any information currently available on the site that would give you an idea of pricing.

What About the Wix Free Plan?

As mentioned above, Wix is keen to provide something for everyone, whether you’re looking for 2gb bandwidth and basic website building, or support for PayPal transactions through Wix.com. One of the most appealing aspects of Wix is that it does come with a free plan available. However, like most free plans from website building tools – it’s limited.

The free plan is missing a lot of the add-ons that you would expect from a more advanced website builder. You won’t be able to have your own domain, and you do need to deal with having Wix ads on your website too. However, if you want to keep your Wix cost low, then there are some benefits to starting with the free plan.

There’s no limit on how long you can use your Wix site for. You can build and publish your website without paying anything, and you get all the fun of playing with Wix features, without the commitment. Wix doesn’t even ask for your payment details to sign up to the free plan.

The free plan comes with 500mb storage and bandwidth, which means that you can only build something small. You will still get access to all of Wix’s features and templates, however.

Here are some important things to know about the Wix free plan:

  • You can’t use a custom domain name: This is a huge downside if you want to build a successful brand online. You’ll get a subdomain from Wix, instead of a professional looking URL. That means that you’re going to struggle with your brand presence. Some customers might think that you’re not truly invested in your site. You can choose the connect domain plan to add your own domain, but this means paying an extra cost.
  • You’ll have to deal with Wix Ads: Another major downside of the Wix free plan is that you’ll have to deal with Wix ads displayed on your site. This can put customers off and reduce your chances of getting a sale.
  • You can’t sell anything: You need a monthly or yearly subscription with Wix to access things like SSL encryption and tools for selling online. Ecommerce isn’t included in the free plan, and it’s not available on some of the cheaper options with things like 3gb storage either. You can connect a payment method to the Wix plan, but you can’t accept transactions.
  • Features are limited: As we noted above, although Wix does give non-paying customers a lot of features to experiment with, you’re still severely limited on what you can accomplish. You won’t have access to Google analytics, for instance, or a custom email address. You even have to use a Wix domain.
  • Customer support is basic: Although you do get access to channels for customer support on the free plan, you won’t receive the best care and attention. Wix’s free plan doesn’t come with any priority support or fast response times.

When to Use a Wix Free Plan?

Ultimately, we’d recommend using the free plan from Wix when you want to test out the features that Wix can offer, without committing to anything yet. We wouldn’t encourage you to really build your business on this plan, as you’ll need some extra features very quickly.

If you want a successful and professional looking website, then you’re going to need things like a custom domain and email accounts upfront. That means paying for at least a monthly plan. The good news is that you can pay for the services that you need month by month, so you’re not locked into anything for too long.

Since the free plan is so appealing, it can be difficult to know when you should upgrade. If you’re having a hard time deciding when to move away from the free plan, here are some signs that you need to upgrade:

  • You want to start selling products and taking credit card or PayPal payments
  • You need to build a more eye-catching image for your brand or business
  • Your website slowing down and causing bad customer experience due to low bandwidth
  • You want to promote your site and your company on a bigger scale
  • You need a custom domain to start attracting more attention

Are There Any Hidden Costs?

By now, you’ve got a fairly good idea of the kind of prices that you need to pay for Wix. However, there are still some hidden fees that you might not be aware of. For instance, although you do get a free domain name for a year – that only lasts for one year.

Here are some of the most common hidden fees to be aware of:

Auto-renewal

If you buy a monthly or yearly plan from Wix, it will automatically renew unless you tell the company that you don’t want this to happen. This means that unless you forget to cancel your plan at the end of your subscription period, you’ll just continue to pay for Wix.

This isn’t necessarily a bad feature from Wix, as it helps to avoid any disruption to your website. Additionally, most people will want to continue using their site builder for an extended period of time, without having to renew every month.

However, if you want to turn off automatic renewals, you can go into your Billing and Payments section of your Wix account. Here, you’ll find Plan Actions, and a “Cancel Now” button. Clicking the cancel button will stop your automatic renewals, but you’ll still be able to use your website until your plan runs out.

Domain name costs

As mentioned above, Wix will give you access to a free domain name for a limited time. However, once that time runs out, you’ll need to pay for your own domain name. Usually, this costs a few dollars a month, or up to around $25 or £20 per year.

The price you pay for your domain name will depend on the company that you want to purchase it from. Wix domains, for instance, are free for the first year, and then $14.95 per year afterwards.

The important thing to remember is that if you don’t continue to pay for your domain name, there’s nothing stopping someone else from registering it and using it online. That’s why it’s so important to keep on top of your domain name issues.

The good news is that compared to options like Weebly and Squarespace, Wix doesn’t charge too much for its domain names.

Custom email addresses

Another hidden cost that you’ll need to consider with Wix, is that you need a custom email address to connect with your customers. The good news is that Wix is partnered with G Suite, so you can create custom email addresses within your Wix account.

The partnership with G Suite gives you access to a 30GB email inbox, a professional email address, Google Docs, collaborative calendars, and more. You can even unlock your email on your desktop or mobile devices. These features cost you around $5 a month on the monthly plan, or you can reduce the cost to nearly $4 if you agree to a yearly subscription.

There is the option to use different email addresses from other companies if you prefer, but this can require more work on your part.

Extra app functionality

Like many leading website builders today, Wix has a bunch of fantastic apps to explore in the Wix app market, so you can build the functionality of your website. Some of these apps are free to use, and others require a premium subscription.

If you think that you might need premium apps to connect with your customers on a deeper level and collect more sales, then you should definitely leave some extra room in your budget. Another thing to keep in mind is that just as your Wix website subscription auto-renews each year, your subscription to premium apps will renew on its own too.

You’ll need to turn the auto-renewal function off if you’re not sure whether you want to keep paying for your premium apps long-term.

Finishing Thoughts

Choosing the right website building tool is a different process. There’s a lot to think about, from Favicon and form builder app tools, to storage space and free domains. Wix is one of the leading providers of site building tools in the modern landscape. It offers a fourteen day money-back guarantee, and a free plan to help you get started.

On top of that, there are plenty of Wix pricing options to choose from, meaning it’s more likely you’ll find something that seems perfect for your business.

Overall, we think that Wix pricing is pretty decent. The website only plans are cheap enough and come with features that you can’t get elsewhere in some cases, like extra analytics. Additionally, the eCommerce plans are becoming increasingly more affordable over the years too.

The plan that’s right for you will depend heavily on what you plan on doing with your website, and how much you think you’re going to grow in the years ahead. It’s also worth keeping in mind that there can be extra fees on top of your monthly or yearly subscription to consider too. For instance, don’t overlook the importance of having your own domain name and professional email address.

Although there are cheaper website building services out there, Wix pricing is still very decent for the value that you get. We’d recommend starting with the free plan and exploring the tools before you jump head-first into any premium options, however.
