An online store contains a wide range of elements to make it run. The same can be said about your business in general. Think about the online assets such as images and videos, along with the site files, marketing documentation, and time budget sheets. Each file has a certain amount of worth, so it's important to ensure that they are all protected and ready for use at any time. Whether it be human error or some sort of malicious deleting, file recovery and history management tools come in handy to keep your files secure and unchanged.

Not only is this a bit confusing (since local files tend to get scattered around,) but you're not automatically creating multiple versions of that file as you edit it. We're talking about theme files, product images, videos, PDFs, site code, and settings. All of these files start to build up, making it easier and easier to lose them in the process. If you're not storing your most important files in one extremely reliable area, items start to go missing, or you might delete them on accident.

Therefore, a file recovery tool cuts out the uncertainty of causing damage to your own business. You can typically jump back in time to locate files you may have misplaced or can't currently find. Multiple versions of each file can also be stored, meaning that you can go back and find the versions that make the most sense for a final file.

This ties into the previous point. But this is where it becomes almost impossible to manage your files without some file recovery assistance.

However, you must remember that apps and plugins are typically made by third-party companiesor individuals. You have no idea what type of code might be built to put your files at risk. Even if it's not malicious you may find that a plugin conflicts with your website and causes damage to the files.
