MailChimp Review [E-mail Marketing Service]

MailChimp Review

The benefits of email marketing for an ecommerce operation hardly need to be explained to anyone engaged with online selling in the present times. As a matter of fact, many of the top ecommerce platforms also provide support for easy integration of third-party email marketing services with your store built with their platform.

MailChimp is one of the leading email marketing services that has been around for some time. Here is my review of MailChimp.

Features:

Free Plan – with up to 2000 contacts and 12,000 messages per month allowances, MailChimp offers one of the most generous free plans that I know of. While some of the advanced features can not be used with a free plan, there is still a lot that you can do with what is offered.

Other Noteworthy Features:

In addition to the features as mentioned above, MailChimp also allows you to create multiple user accounts under your primary account and facilitates collaboration amongst users. The ability to preview your email in various email clients, geo-targeting and time-zone based delivery are some of the other noteworthy features offered by this app.

Price Range:

two types of plans are offered – monthly subscriber based plans and pay-as-you-go plans. All monthly plans allow unlimited number of messages to be sent, starting from $10 up to 500 subscribers (addresses) and rising in increments of $5 corresponding to 500 additional subscribers.

On the pay-as-you-go plans, you need to purchase credits to be used against each message you send, with reducing per-email pricing as you buy more credits.

Conclusion:

Loaded with all the standard features and many extra ones too, there's nothing negative that can be said about MailChimp as an email marketing service. The generous free offer of 2000 subscribers/12,000 emails a month makes it a no-brainer to try out this service.

  1. Could not agree more. MailChimp is a solid offering, probably the best in it’s class. The only downside is that is doesn’t offer a good solution for companies that have large lists, but only email once or twice or month (or don’t need advanced automation). I actually went to StreamSend for cases like that.

StreamSend can’t compete with MailChimp’s feature set, but it has MailChimp pegged when it comes to the whole large list / infrequent mailing deal.
